My research interests include well-being in developing countries, with a particular emphasis on more subjective/ psychological aspects and developing measures that reflect local priorities; poverty research and evaluation using qualitative and mixed methods approaches; and children and young people. I have had experience applying anthropology to complex problems in interdisciplinary environments and ensuring the quality of qualitative research within large international projects. |
The countries I work in most frequently are Ethiopia and Bangladesh; however, I have also conducted and managed research in Thailand, Vietnam, Pakistan, Andhra Pradesh (India), Peru, Kenya, Mozambique, South Africa, Uganda, and UK/Europe. |

My career has led me to specialize increasingly in Humanitarian & Social Development Service with
much specialty in Project design, planning, Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation of
complex multi-cultural projects at a level which meets Donor’s standard. I have ten (10) years’
experience in: Project design, Planning, Management & monitoring & evaluation of
PEPFAR/USAID/CDC funded projects using Results frameworks and Logical Framework Approach;
operating within the tight time disciplines imposed by ambitious projects which I have co monitored
and evaluated; and the application of modern leadership methods (through staff motivation and
involvement in both decision-making and target-setting, project planning, clarity in communication,
and easy personal inter-relations). My experience in Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation
of OVC Programs spreads across over four (4) HIV/AIDS Implementation Science projects namely,
SUSTAIN project funded by CCFN, SMILE project funded by CRS, and iCARES/aCARES project
funded by APIN. I am competent in the design and development of M&E plans as well as putting in
place an effective M&E system that promotes the quality of program data. I recently supervised a team
of workers who were committed to strengthening the M&E system under the Strategic Informatics unit
of my organization. My own Bias professional background, even as it cuts across varying discipline,
together with a command of experience in OVC projects, has also left me confident in project
management, monitoring and evaluation of projects/programs that require the reconciliation of
different stakeholder interests/approaches to otherwise solve common problems. |

My academic and professional interests center on international development, global governance, and public policy, with a strong emphasis on gender and development. I have a background in political science, international relations, and gender studies, and I am particularly interested in understanding how global processes and development interventions shape gender equality and social inclusion, especially in the Global South. My work takes an interdisciplinary approach, connecting politics, economics, and social dynamics, while also engaging with data-driven research and digital tools for analysis. A key component of my research focuses on the analysis of international aid and development cooperation flows, exploring their distribution, priorities, and impacts on domestic policy agendas. I have been involved in projects focused on citizen participation, environmental policy, cooperation networks, and critical data analysis related to development and equity. My work combines applied research with an emphasis on interdisciplinary methods and decolonial perspectives from the Global South. |

I am interested in the intersection of the sharing economy, digital platforms, and the evolving communities of digital nomads. My research focus lies in studying the gig economy and its implications for livelihoods, labor rights, and socio-economic development, particularly in the context of digital globalization and platform capitalism. I am keen to explore how these trends reshape traditional development paradigms and create new challenges and opportunities in both the Global North and South. |
My primary geographical focus includes Southeast Asia—regions where digital platforms and gig economy models are rapidly expanding and shaping new forms of work. I am also interested in global trends, including urban hubs in Europe and North America, to understand transnational patterns in the sharing economy and digital nomadism. |

My interest in joining the Development Studies Association is rooted in my interdisciplinary work at the intersection of food systems, climate change, nutrition, and rural livelihoods in Southern Africa, with a strong empirical focus on Zimbabwe. My research critically examines how structural inequalities, environmental shocks, and institutional governance frameworks shape food and nutrition security outcomes in both rural and urban communities.
I am particularly interested in contributing to and learning from DSA networks that engage with sustainable food systems, climate resilience, and inclusive development pathways. My current work spans large-scale national assessments, including the Zimbabwe Rural Livelihoods Assessment (ZimLAC), as well as community-based research on climate–health interactions, indigenous knowledge systems, and postharvest innovations aimed at reducing losses and improving value addition. Through my work, I engage closely with government, development partners, and local communities to generate policy-relevant evidence that informs national development strategies (e.g., NDS1) and global frameworks such as the SDGs. I am particularly interested in the political economy of development, including issues of knowledge systems, equity, and the governance of natural and biological resources, as reflected in my recent work on indigenous knowledge and biopiracy.
Joining the DSA provides an important platform to:
Engage in global scholarly dialogue on development challenges and solutions
Contribute African perspectives to debates on climate change, food systems, and development policy
Build collaborative partnerships for multi-country and interdisciplinary research
Participate in conferences and thematic groups aligned with my research focus
I am especially keen to contribute to DSA’s mission of advancing inclusive, evidence-based development by bringing regionally grounded insights from Zimbabwe and Southern Africa into broader global discussions. |

My interests center on international development and the ways in which inequality, power, and policy interact to shape outcomes in the Global South. I am particularly drawn to issues of poverty, gender inequality, and environmental justice, and I am interested in how development interventions can move beyond theory to deliver meaningful, inclusive impact. I am especially motivated by approaches that integrate local knowledge with global policy frameworks. |
Sub-saharan Africa especially East Africa, Tanzania. I am motivated by the gap between policy design and implementation in Tanzania, and by the ways institutional weaknesses can limit the impact of even well-intentioned programs. I have seen how inclusive, accountable, and locally grounded policies can transform communities. I am particularly passionate about designing evidence-based solutions that reflect Tanzania’s unique social, economic, and cultural realities. |

My research interest lies at the intersection of energy economics, environmental degradation, and climate change. I am driven by a commitment to understanding the relationships and dynamics between economic activities, energy systems, and the environment. In particular, I am keen to investigate how energy-related policies and market structures impact economic growth while considering their implications for environmental sustainability. My focus extends to analyzing the trade-offs and synergies between economic development and environmental conservation, seeking innovative solutions that promote a harmonious balance between the two. By delving into the complexities of energy economics, I aspire to contribute valuable insights that can inform policy decisions, foster sustainable development, and mitigate the challenges posed by climate change. Through interdisciplinary research, I aim to bridge the gaps between economics, environmental science, and policy to address the pressing issues of our time. |

I am a registered nurse with a strong interest in the link between healthcare and sustainable development. Through my clinical experience, I have seen how health inequalities and social determinants affect vulnerable populations. I wish to join the Development Studies Association Ireland to deepen my understanding of development policy, health systems strengthening, and evidence-based interventions, while contributing practical healthcare perspectives to discussions on equitable and inclusive development. |

Summer is a Comparative Religious Lore and History student specializing in the intersection of folklore and religion. With a passion for exploring how narratives shape cultural identities and belief systems, Summer investigates the historical and societal influences that intertwine myth, legend, and spiritual practice. As a first-generation college student, she is actively involved in student leadership and academic excellence, serving as the President of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity and as a member of Mortar Board Honors Society. Her dedication to interdisciplinary scholarship is further demonstrated through participation in national science, religious, history, and folklore associations. Committed to fostering conversations on female agency, mythology, and the evolving role of folklore in contemporary society, Summer continues to explore the power of storytelling in shaping human understanding. |

I am currently studying International Development at King’s College London. My academic interests are grounded in sociological and development studies theories, with a focus on the mechanisms through which structural inequalities are produced and reproduced within developing countries and emerging economies. In particular, I am interested in how state governance, knowledge production, and development policies unevenly allocate resources, risks, and development opportunities across social groups and regions. In addition, I have a strong interest in the decolonial analysis of International Development Projects, especially in examining how power relations, discursive constructions, and depoliticised forms of governance shape project design, implementation, and their capacity to generate meaningful social transformation. |
