Abstract:
The book explores the main issues related to food quality and safety in general in Kyrgyzstan, as well possible solutions. Based on the studies of information and data on functional foods, new functional food products were developed from plant materials available in the country. The experiments conducted verify that the use of ecological clean wild plants to produce functional foods is economically beneficial. In the book there are data, findings and discussions of studies on biologically active components of new food products, and production technologies. In addition, the issues regarding food safety management and solutions to introduce the quality management systems like ISO 9000 and ISO 22000 are reviewed and analyzed.

Session 1 Thursday 20 October, 2022, -Paper abstract:
In order to make the food industry effective and workable, the government agencies should develop the relevant legal framework on food security. So how deep and wide the legal issues are integrated into the current legislation is necessary to be learnt. The critical points for this book will be mainly what kind of opportunities and challenges are addressed in relation to the legal issues.
Furthermore, if the government is able to construct a proper legal mechanism to drive the food quality management systems, then our producers can benefit as well to provide regional and global marketn with the food products at high level of quality.
Paper abstract:
How effective and comprehensive food safety management systems will operate is a big message to the members of Jogorku Kenesh. So far there have been many laws and decrees approved to make the system clear and workable, but there are no practical actions toward implementation. Our governments in Central Asia need more technical and financial support to introduce the food safety management systems with all required international standards. Thus, the book will cover all above-mentioned challenges and bring more solutions into practice. In the Kyrgyz Republic and other Central Asian countries there are numerous SMEs which exercise partly or full the food safety management systems with support of international development projects.
