Short Abstract:
As the Global Challenges Research Fund comes to the end of its first 5 years, we take this opportunity to hold a 'town hall' meeting to discuss researchers' perspectives, experiences and challenges with GCRF funding. The discussion will help inform the process of formulating future plans.
Long Abstract:
The Global Challenges Research Fund is nearing the end of its first 5-year term, and proposals are being formulated for a new funding period. Several GCRF Challenge Leaders will host this town hall discussion with researchers and institutions about their experiences with the GCRF. In what ways (if at all) has it encouraged interdisciplinarity? Has it promoted more equitable research partnerships? Has it led to greater impact of research? What have institutions done with their QR funding and how has this impacted GCRF-funded research? What frustrations have people had? What would they like to see from a 'GCRF-2'?
The discussion will be an important contribution to ongoing thinking about future plans for the GCRF.
The format will be a roundtable discussion, with GCRF Challenge Leaders posing questions of the audience, and audience members invited to also ask questions or provide comments to the Challenge Leaders.
