Abstract

The introduction of Sufi Islam directly from Central Asia into Kashmir's valley in the fourteenth century gave Kashmir's culture and legacy a new depth. In Kashmir's towns and villages, the Shahmiri Dynasty built a large number of mosques, shrines, and khanqahas. In those days, Srinagar, also known as Shehr-i-Kashmir, attracted scholars, preachers, and traders from the centres of culture in Central and Middle Asia. Their arrival had an impact on Kashmir's elaborate craft traditions. The legacy Sultan Zainul Abidin, often known as Budshah, left behind is unmatched by any other sovereign. He supported the arts, crafts, literature, and architecture. The utilization of colours, themes, and techniques that would later come to dominate Kashmiri crafts were developed during this time. The most significant art forms in India, along with miniature paintings, have been said to be Kashmir's artisan legacy, particularly its textiles. It has kept some Central Asian characteristics in terms of dress, food, way of life, and to some extent in architecture. The missionaries of Central Asian descent had a significant impact on Kashmir's court and cultural scene during this time. The cultural landscape of the Valley over time showed a particular combination of local and Persian elements. Even now, the inhabitants still exhibit the impacts of this synthesis in their daily activities, including their cuisine, attire, and modes of celebration. From Bukhara, Samarkand, and other Central Asian cities, a large number of Sufi saints migrated to India. In this regard, Sayyid Ali Hamdani, who migrated to Kashmir from Kulyab in Tajikistan, made a substantial contribution and majority of people accepted Sufi Islam in landlocked Kashmir Valley.

Abstract

Kazakh textile patterns can be represented by two forms of improvisation. These create new patterns from previous ones and are reminiscent of sheep horns. Once common, this practice is now reflected in two contemporary approaches. Following tradition, a woman in Mongolia works freehand, making embroidery without a pattern. A woman in Kazakhstan created unique patterns in applique using new materials. Recently she made a rug by cutting thin felt into the pattern. Then, she realized that by adding a single cut, she could create a completely different form. She obtained a patent for the new pattern. The difference in the two approaches lies in the fixation. Patterns have always been renewed as a cultural practice through forgetting. In contemporary society, patterns are also unique and complete "art" and are produced with a clearer narrative to be owned as special.

На практике, разные страны выработали свои модели. Так, яркий пример - это Япония, страна, в свое время продемонстрировавшая «способность перенимать чужой опыт, учиться у других». Стратегия интеллектуального усилия, питавшая реформы Мэйдзи в Японии, всего за жизнь одного поколения смогла изменить до неузнаваемости целую страну. В тогдашней Японии сумели «отказаться от тех элементов прошлого», которые не давали развиваться японской нации. И, подобно реставрации Мэйдзи, осуществленной в свое время в стране восходящего солнца, в Казахстане зреют масштабные экономические реформы и ускорение построения современного общества. В мире существует 250 стран. Возникает резонный вопрос: а скольким моделям социально-экономического развития они следуют? Тоже 250 моделям? А может быть – ста моделям? Или пятидесяти, двадцати, десяти? В реальной действительности таких моделей социально-экономического развития стран мира (путей социально-экономического развития стран мира) может быть только два. Почему – два? Потому что, первый путь социально-экономического развития (первая модель) – это, когда государство берет на себя стопроцентное бесплатное обеспечение

всей жизнедеятельности своих граждан и их семей: от рождения до ухода из жизни. Второй путь социально-экономического развития (вторая модель) – это, когда граждане самостоятельно финансируют все страховые случаи своей жизни (лечение болезни, обучение детей, нахождение в состоянии возможной безработицы, нахождение в пенсионном возрасте). Обычно первый путь называют западноевропейским, а второй – латиноамериканским. Как отсюда становится ясным, Республика Казахстан пока движется в своем развитии и тем, и другим путем, то есть «смешанным». Наши граждане обладают правом как на ряд бесплатных социальных услуг, получаемых от государства, так и самостоятельно решают ряд проблем социального характера (на платных основах). Может ли Казахстан немедленно вырулить на западно-европейский путь развития? Как известно, западно-европейский путь развития опирается на очень высокие размеры подоходного налога, налагаемого на также высокий уровень заработной платы. Это вызвано отставанием уровня доходов казахстанцев от доходов населения стран, идущих по западно-европейскому пути. Как же довести уровень доходов жителей Казахстана до уровня доходов населения развитых стран? Таким образом, для массового казахстанца государству необходимо создать высокооплачиваемые рабочие места. А высокооплачиваемые рабочие места в современное время создают только предприятия, занятые производством ноу-хау. В связи с этим, есть ли смысл покупать лицензии на право изготовления на территории Казахстана уже изобретенных другими странами продуктов ноу-хау? Например, для таких гигантских стран, как Китай, Индия

смысл есть, поскольку транспортировать огромное количество (уже изобретенных) потребительских изделий для миллиардного населения – абсурд. Казахстану создавать рабочие места для производства изделий по уже изобретенным технологиям, (покупая лицензии), не имеет смысла в силу узости рынка. Остается только одно – ставка на собственные ноу-хау, на национальные изобретения.

Abstract

Across the centuries, songs have served as vessels for encapsulating memory, acting as important carriers of historical and cultural narratives. This paper explores the poignant discourses embedded in four Kazakh songs from the second half of the 1980s: namely, "Jeltoksan jeli" (The wind of Jeltoksan), "Kara bauyr kaskaldak" (The black coot), "Shyndyk" (The truth), and the antinuclear song "Zaman-ai" (Oh such times). These politically committed songs serve as portals to a powerful exploration of the nation's struggle and postcolonial pain within a post-Jeltoksan temporal context. They stand as anthems resonating with specific aspects of the Kazakh experience during this transformative period, singing the harmful impact of nuclear tests, the ecological tragedy of the Aral Sea, and environmental degradation, along with the Asharshylyk, the 1986 Jeltoksan uprising, and the cultural ramifications of Russification. They also serve as a source of selfhood, agency, and dignity.

This interdisciplinary analysis intertwines memory studies and a postcolonial framework, articulating the significant role of these songs as expressions of collective pain and protest during the final years of the Soviet Union. The paper examines the lyrics, unraveling the layers of historical importance embedded in song verses, while contextualizing each composition within the historical and cultural landscape of 20th-century Kazakhstan. Through this comprehensive exploration, it aims not only to shed light on the socio-political nuances of the late 1980s but also to contribute to a better understanding of how music, as an expressive medium, shapes and preserves national identity amidst tumultuous times. The songs emerge not merely as melodies but as vital expressions of resilience, illustrating the Kazakh people's determination to forge a narrative that rises above the challenges of their era.
