Short Abstract:

This panel will bring together editors of diverse journals, published on three continents and aimed at different audiences, to discuss the challenges and rewards of publishing environmental history in a transdisciplinary age.

Long Abstract:

This panel will bring together editors of six journals -- *Environment and History*, *Water History*, *Environmental Humanities*, *Historia Ambient Latinoaricana y Caribeña*, and *Environmental History* -- to discuss the challenges and rewards of publishing environmental history in a transdisciplinary age. In doing so, it will: 1) take the temperature of the field of environmental history, noting trends in manuscripts with a particular focus on interdisciplinarity; 2) highlight promising paths of future scholarly enquiry in the field that remain underdeveloped; 3) discuss the role of journals in shaping the contours of environmental history; and 4) take the audience behind the scenes to see the various ways in which journals function and so offer practical advice to scholars seeking to frame prospective manuscripts to best advantage.
