One of the defects of colonial education in the Gold Coast was the imposition of the English language as the language of formal education. The effect of that policy was the memorisation of several theories and concepts without understanding. These defect reflect on the economy and development of the Gold Coast, now Ghana. In Ethiopia Unbound (1911), Joseph Casely Hayford, one of the foremost Gold Coast nationalists, launched a frontal attack on the denigration of native institutions. Casely Hayford’s proposal is for translation as an effective solution to the language problem. This work is an attempt to translate modern assisted reproductive terminologies into the Akan language.
