Paper short abstract:

Using field data from Tashkent, we will analyze the features of the development of that market and its impact on the well-being of society, in the pre-pandemic and pandemic period.

Paper long abstract:

With the new leadership in Uzbekistan a process of market liberalization has begun, which has entailed structural changes in all spheres of socio-economic life of the Uzbek people, which has directly affected the ceremonial services market among others. The COVID-19 pandemic (on the global scale) had some negative impact on the expected intensive growth of business activity in the country, which has required not only adjustments in development of the ceremonial services market, but has also affected organization of ceremonial and funeral events themselves. Given that and on the basis of empirical material we have collected, this presentation will address issues revealing the achievements and problems of structural changes in the economy, from the perspective of the business environment in the sector we have investigated. In addition, it will deal with the impact of the pandemic on the activities of entrepreneurs providing ritual services. Finally, relying on field data, this paper will analyze the evolving changes in the ritual expenditures.

С приходом нового руководства в Узбекистане начался процесс либерализации рыночных отношений, повлекший за собой структурные изменения во всех сферах социально-экономической жизни узбекистанцев, которые непосредственно затронули рынок торжественных услуг, в частности. На ожидаемый интенсивный рост деловой активности в стране оказало свое негативное влияние пандемия COVID-19 (в мировом масштабе), что потребовало не только корректировки в развитии рынка торжественных услуг, но сказалась на проведении самих торжественных и похоронно-поминальных мероприятий. Учитывая это и собранного эмпирического и полевого материала на данном выступлении будут затронуты вопросы, раскрывающие достижения и проблемы структурных преобразований в экономике, с позиции деловой среды в исследуемой отрасли. Также в влияние пандемии на деятельность предпринимателей, оказывающих ритуальные услуги. На основе анализа эмпирики будут проанализированы динамичные изменения в ритуальных расходах.
