Short Abstract:
Filmmaking and anthropological research are both profoundly collaborative endeavours. All too often however the collective and collaborative nature of both practices is disguised behind a single authorship attribution. In this roundtable discussion we will meet filmmakers and anthropologists who have chosen to work differently by sharing authorship, expertise and artistic decision making. Filmmakers and anthropologists working in a collaborative frame will be in conversation with each other, sharing their working practices, their ideas about collaboration and exploring the challenges collaborations pose. The films discussed are available for viewing in the conference Film Library, which gives access to a selection of films from the RAI Film catalogue to conference attendees.
