Description

Edinburgh has vibrant and deeply rooted traditional music culture. Inspired by and contributing to the city’s existing living traditions, this event brings anthropologists together to share traditional music from their field sites and/or homes, acknowledging how musical experiences are entwined with an understanding of place both in and out of the field. Sound Exchange opens an opportunity to put sounds of the field into conversation and potentially collaboration with one another, in the spirit of a traditional music session.

While it will be possible to register interest and participation in advance, attendees are also welcome to join spontaneously, either playing music or listening.
