Description
Curious about the professional prospects of anthropology graduates? Join us for “Bridging the Gap - Translating the Professional Value of Anthropology" - an interactive workshop aimed at students and anthropology practitioners wishing to build their dream careers. Participants will leave with a comprehensive understanding of diverse career possibilities for anthropologists, and practical techniques for translating these expertise to non-academic audiences including employers in both private and public sectors. In turn, non-academic participants, including professionals in communications, product development, marketing and user research, design consulting, public health, and organizational strategy, will get a taste of how anthropology can enhance their business practices by foregrounding qualitative research and human experiences, thus adding crucial context that is often obfuscated by purely quantitative metrics and “big data.”
“Bridging the Gap” is hosted by the Digital Anthropology Collective (DAC) - a collaboration between anthropology postgraduates and anthro-curious professionals committed to making anthropological insight central to how we navigate modern socio-cultural challenges. Established in 2024 by UCL Digital Anthropology Masters’ graduates, the DAC is driven by a desire to bring anthropology to a wider audience by highlighting its value both within and outside academia through the medium of collaborative workshops and research projects. The facilitators bring a host of experience in creating workshop environments that reduce the stigma around alternative career paths while celebrating the success of anthropologists in various professions. We encourage all participants to stay connected with the DAC for ongoing support, resources, and community throughout their professional journeys.
