Description
This panel brings together artists and researchers from Sri Lanka and France to share experiences from a collaborative performance project developed in post-war Jaffna. More than a decade after the end of Sri Lanka’s civil war, the project explored how performance can open spaces for listening, memory, and encounter in places shaped by conflict.
Drawing on theatre, photography, installation, and audience participation, the work created a temporary “museum” of voices, images, and gestures rather than a fixed story about the past. In this public conversation, the panelists reflect on what it meant to work across languages, cultures, and histories, and on the challenges of making art in a context marked by silence and loss.
Rather than offering answers or conclusions, the event invites audiences to think with the panelists about performance as a shared experience—one that raises questions about memory, ethics, and how we meet one another after conflict.
