Description

How are catastrophe and the mundane interwoven and balanced against each other in the work of addressing the Climate Crisis?

In our fieldwork in two Arctic communities with researchers on climate change-oriented projects, we became interested in the tension between the catastrophic urgency of the climate crisis and the experienced daily lives of people in the same locations that were the subject of environmental research. In this tension, we see a number of important points for anthropology to interrogate. The event will be a roundtable discussion as part of the Climate Anthropology Network featuring anthropologists and climate scientists working on a range of climate-related topics. There will be a period at the end of the discussion for questions from the audience.
