Long Abstract:

The main goal of this roundtable is to discuss the challenges researchers face in researching African contemporary expressive culture.

It will bring together researchers and art practitioners to engage in a conversation around this topic and elaborate on potential models and strategies to overcome these challenges, mostly by connecting Afri-can contemporary expressive practices to the frames and discourses present in the global art scene.

The other aim of the roundtable will be to publicly present the Network of Researchers on African Contemporary Culture and Arts- ARCA:net. The network was created in 2017, after the ECAS Basel conference, to work as a support platform for researchers and PhD students working within the field of contemporary African culture and arts.
