Description

This workshop creates a space for critical reflection on the integration of generative AI tools into STS-related research practices. Drawing on analytical frameworks for thinking about distributed knowledge production, it invites participants to examine the position and agency of GenAI within the sociotechnical assemblages through which academic knowledge is constructed. Central to the workshop's inquiry are two interrelated questions: How do we conceptualize our relationship with generative AI systems - as collaboration, instrumental use, or something that exceeds these categories altogether? And in what ways does the incorporation of such tools reconfigure, subtly reshape, or more fundamentally transform established research processes, epistemic practices, and scholarly conventions? These questions will be explored collectively through a structured workshop.
