Short Abstract

A meetup for all scholars engaged in or focused on interactions between science, technology, and aquatic environments.

Description

STS has recently brought its analytical attention to the role of marine and freshwater sciences, which are increasingly expected to lead the way in understanding environmental crises affecting aquatic environments and identifying potential solutions. This is no surprise: rivers, lakes, seas, and the ocean are all sites of immense (potential) value, supporting and shaping the global biosphere, and are under considerable threat. STS is well positioned to make sense of and contextualize the many transformations occurring in these environments. Following growing interest in recent years, this meetup is an opportunity to meet scholars with shared research interests and begin to plan a more intentional network around aquatic STS research. We welcome all scholars engaged in or focused on interactions between science, technology, and watery worlds!
