Short Abstract

We are an international multidisciplinary network of researchers studying robotic technologies from a social science perspective. We meet regularly online to exchange ideas & discuss our projects. We invite you to join us in person to connect and discuss the social study of robots & related research

Description

We are an international multidisciplinary group of researchers exploring robotic technologies from a social science perspective. Our network originated from two visiting scholar stays between the University of Edinburgh and Technische Universität Berlin in 2023-2024.

In October 2024, we held our first joint workshop in Edinburgh. Since then, we have met regularly online to discuss our findings, reflect on our research and practice, and exchange ideas for collaboration.

The planned in-person meetup in Krakow will be key to further expanding and consolidating this emerging network, which includes scholars at various stages of their careers, from PhD to professor level and fosters mentorship, interdisciplinarity and knowledge exchange.

Empirical fields represented within the network include, among others:

- Care robots

- Medical robots

- Collaborative industrial robots

- Transport robots in hospitals

- Humanoid robots

- Robot competitions

- Exoskeletons

This meet-up is intended as an opportunity to connect in person at the conference and build our network by welcoming other members of the wider EASST community who share similar interests.

If you are interested in social science research on robotics or are conducting such research yourself, we warmly invite you to join our meeting.
