Short Abstract
This Making and Doing workshop will use and reflect on collage as a method for exploring the socio-technical and ethical relationships raised in health technologies and climate change.
Description
This Making and Doing workshop explores socio-technical and ethical issues through collage. Collage is an art-based method with a technique that is accessible to everyone, so no previous artistic knowledge or special skills are required. Collage offers the opportunity to arrange, disassemble and reassemble different images and materials so that images are re-signified and used as metaphors and symbols. Collage also stimulates our imagination and encourages us to think, to see new possibilities around a particular theme and above all to work on associations and connections between elements. This Making and Doing workshop will use collage to explore the socio-technical and ethical relationships raised in two prompts that participants can choose between: one dealing with the widespread use of health apps and the other with the ethics of health issues raised by climate change. The Making and Doing workshop will be facilitated by experienced researchers in arts-based methods. Participants will have the opportunity to make their own collage, share their work and reflect on the experience of thinking about ethics through collage.
