Short Abstract

Too often, STS researchers remain invisible in traditional department structures, making it difficult to identify STS researchers at the respective universities. This network meeting (meet-up) aims at making visible and findable STS within the UNITE Framework.

Description

Across Europe, the last decades have seen a growing presence of STS researchers at universities with a MINT focus. Still, the traditional department structures sometimes make it difficult for an outsider to identify them.

This network meeting (meet-up) aims at making visible and findable STS within the UNITE Framework. UNITE is a European initiative that aims at enhancing collaboration between its nine partner Universities: KTH Royal Institute of Technology (S), Aalto University (Fi), Technical University of Darmstadt (D), Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (Pl), Politecnico Di Torino (It), Grenoble INP-UGA (F), Universidade de Lisboa (Pt), Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (E ) and Graz University of Technology (A).

In order to allow STS researchers to benefit more from the UNITE framework and the opportunities it offers to its members; we host a networking event at the EASST conference. The meeting pursues several objectives:

• Show: Enhance visibility of STS at UNITE universities

• Connect: Establish an information platform, allowing registered members to share their work, news and information (discuss realisation, e. g. through LinkedIn, …) as well as to connect with other STS researchers from other UNITE universities.

• Map: collect the scope of STS research across UNITE and cluster these work in discernible research fields

• Collaborate: identify the various ways in which STS is taught at UNITE universities and explore possibilities for future collaboration and exchange.

This proposal is NOT intended to present specific research; therefore, it does not offer a call for abstracts. Rather the idea is to schedule a “Meet-up” networking event during the conference for STSers working at one of the UNITE universities. Join us and make STS visible within the UNITE framework.
