Short Abstract:

Roundtable about a film documentary dedicated to the topic of freedom of research in the Academic Study of Religions in Central and Eastern Europe

Long Abstract:

In 2021, the European Commission sponsored the project of a film documentary dedicated to the topic of freedom of scientific research on religions in Central and Eastern Europe. Based on interviews with scholars in the field, the film addresses the first principle of the European Charter for Researchers. Its goal is to reach a larger public of non-specialists and improve public understanding. The roundtable shall involve the interviewees filmed in 8 countries, Hungary, Romania, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia. It welcomes creative discussion about and around the film, and the issue at stake: freedom of academic study of religions.
