Abstract:
The modernization of gender education in Kazakhstan marks a crucial step towards fostering
equality and inclusivity in the nation’s educational system. This paper explores the
transformative efforts undertaken by Kazakhstan to integrate gender perspectives into
educational curricula, policies, and practices. The study highlights the historical context of
gender education in the region, outlining the traditional gender roles and stereotypes that have
influenced educational content and pedagogy.
Gender education is one of the fastest-developing areas of the social sphere of education. In
Western countries, gender education began in the second half of the twentieth century and
was carried out in Kazakhstan from the first years of sovereignty. The functioning of research
centers focused on gender studies has had a beneficial effect on the formation of education in
this area. Now half of the universities conduct gender-based disciplines with expanding priority
directions. The sphere of gender knowledge, initially covering only the sociological direction, is
filled with politics, economics, philology, and history. Gender education is considered one of
the most important components of the educational process of social and humanitarian
specialists. Its content includes ideological and universal values. In Kazakhstan, gender
education, and interdisciplinary connections are not clearly expressed, and the direction is not
fully distinguishable. In this article, gender education in Kazakhstan is studied, and the creation
of the concept of gender education is studied.
The analysis also delves into the challenges and barriers encountered during the modernization
process, such as resistance to change, lack of resources, and cultural constraints. Through
qualitative and quantitative data, the paper assesses the impact of these modernization efforts
on students’ attitudes towards gender roles and equality, as well as on the overall educational
environment.
In conclusion, the modernization of gender education in Kazakhstan is presented as an ongoing
process that requires sustained commitment and effort from all stakeholders. The findings
underscore the importance of continued advocacy, resource allocation, and policy support to
ensure the successful integration of gender education, ultimately contributing to a more
equitable and progressive society.
Abstract:
This paper explores the intricate gender dynamics within Kazakh music, examining how traditional and contemporary practices reflect and shape gender roles and identities. Historically, Kazakh music, deeply rooted in the nomadic culture, has been a potent medium for both reinforcing and challenging societal norms. The study investigates the roles of male and female musicians, highlighting the historical dominance of men in professional music spheres and the cultural constraints placed on women’s musical expression. Through a comprehensive review of literature and analysis of musical compositions, performances, and ethnographic data, the paper uncovers the evolution of gender roles in Kazakh music from the pre-Soviet era to the present day.
The research reveals that during the Soviet period, state policies significantly influenced gender representations in music, promoting female participation while simultaneously imposing ideological frameworks that often reinforced traditional gender stereotypes. In contemporary Kazakhstan, the music scene is witnessing a gradual transformation with increasing visibility and influence of female musicians who challenge patriarchal norms and advocate for gender equality through their art.
This study will critically analyze the causes and obstacles of gender inequality in musical culture, the main aspects of the gender issue in the context of the historical and socio-cultural narrative, and a comparative analysis of the role of women in traditional Kazakh music and in the modern music industry. The underlying framework of the study is a qualitative analysis of academic resources on gender studies, interviews with women musicians and cultural experts, and case studies of specific initiatives aimed at increasing women's participation in the music scene.
This paper also delves into the thematic content of Kazakh songs, exploring how lyrical narratives and musical styles convey gendered experiences and perspectives. By examining case studies of prominent Kazakh musicians and their contributions, the study provides insights into the ongoing struggle for gender parity in the music industry. The findings underscore the complex interplay between music, culture, and gender, highlighting the potential of Kazakh music as a catalyst for social change and gender empowerment.
Abstract:
In the traditional Kazakh Society, a woman-mother, a girl, had a high status, showed her gender equality. However, we can explain by the fact that the status of the "female mother" in society has a high authority, which is understandable in Soviet times when Kazakh women were discriminated against or considered Kazakh girls as lower-class people in society.
The study reveals the gender nature of women’s traditional clothing and jewelry, which are part of the Kazakh traditional culture, in ethnographic education of today's generation. We mean that every father prepared the value of clothes and the nobility of jewelry to order for his daughter. As well as the image of the “saukele young bride's headdress”, which was decorated with «the attractive steed “horses” equipped with special equipment and saddles during the bridesmaids, the high authority of Kazakh girls indicates that Kazakh women and girls are gender equality. In the system of tribal kinship, such phrases as “the beginning of the transition”, “place on the right threshold” have not lost their meaning even today, maximizing the gender equality of Kazakh women and girls. That is why this study allows us to reveal the essence of traditional clothing and jewelry in traditional culture, including women's, in the context of gender education, as well as a comparative analysis of traditional clothing and jewelry in the context of beliefs, morals, ethics, rights and status.
The object of the study is a comparative analysis of the place of elderly mothers and young mothers in the traditional family life among the local population on Gender Studies, their culture of clothing, personal interviews with women-mothers, which contributes to the ethnographic education of traditional clothing of Kazakh women.
By analyzing the symbolic and practical roles of traditional clothing and jewelry, the paper explores their impact on contemporary gender education. The study employs a comparative analysis to trace the evolution of these artifacts from the pre-Soviet era to the present, revealing shifts in gender perceptions and educational practices. The findings suggest that traditional clothing and jewelry are integral to ethnographic education, providing insights into gender roles, cultural identity, and social values. By fostering an understanding of these cultural artifacts, the study emphasizes their importance in shaping contemporary gender education. The paper concludes by advocating for the inclusion of traditional clothing and jewelry in educational curricula to promote a deeper understanding of gender equality and cultural heritage in Kazakhstan.
