Digital teacher as one of the modern language education priorities

Abstract:

Kazakhstani government's proposal on digital teaching provoked a mixed reaction from the society. Some thought it was a great idea; others treated the initiative with caution. It remains a debatable question whether digital literacy will become a passport to the wider world or a threat to the national identity for Kazakhstanis. All this, in their opinion, can lead to the loss of national identity.

Some people have linked digital literacy with the threat to the cultural integrity of the country. They have expressed concerns that teaching with the help of technology will result in a decrease of the native language significance. In the modern educational context, where technology is increasingly penetrating to educational processes, it is important to understand how competent teachers are in using digital tools and resources for the English teaching.

In addition, a number of doubts were expressed about the organization and results of such training, namely: increasing the requirements for teachers was considered one of the greatest difficulties. However, it is already possible to get acquainted with the results of the program implementation, which indicate a positive experience. So, to the unequivocal supporters and opponents of this study, there were who supported that idea, but with certain reservations. There are some reasons –most of institutions have not enough equipped, even they belong to an old generation, organizational issues were unclear.

This research is aimed on evaluating and enhancing the competencies of teachers for the effective digital tools use in language learning. The main problems are insufficient teacher training and challenges related to the use of technology in the classroom. Hence, solutions are proposed in the form of training programs, trainings and strategies to improve teachers' digital literacy and successfully integrate technology into the educational process. This will improve the quality of language learning and the development of effective methods of teaching English.

Therefore, the study will assess the competencies of digital teachers, identify the problems they face when using technologies and develop strategies for effective language teaching. However, it is safe to say that Kazakhstan's education needs to change the language policy. Digital teacher should become the norm of contemporary education. This will be of practical importance for improving the quality of education in the field of the language learning.
