The roundtable proposed gathers a variety of SME leaders and scholars studying SME development in order to discuss the potential and capacity building between business sector and academic/research communities.

Abstract:

According to official statistics of the countries of Central Asia, most MSMEs had to reduce a number of employers, specifically who had no soft skills during the pandemic lockdown in the years of 2020 and 2021. For that period, the demand for IT products and services was sharply increased that led to development and extension of IT companies in Central Asia. With this regard, the general digital education in all fields provided by business sector has been a key source of income generation not only at private universities, but also for SMEs themselves. The roundtable proposed gathers a variety of SME leaders and scholars studying SME development in order to discuss the potential and capacity building between business sector and academic/research communities. The cases and lessons learnt in developed economies illustrate that research and academic institutions closely cooperate with representatives of business sector to advance the knowledge into practice by creating the research and development communications and frameworks. For example, the MSMEs of Central Asia have a lack of research skills and knowledge, but are full of innovative technologies to introduce into business. While researchers and academicians do not have an idea how to transfer and probe research skills and knowledge into practice to justify and acknowledge their research assumptions. Moreover, during the discussions within the roundtable the possible fruitful research and development collaboration might be created.
