Paper long abstract:

Media Sources, Surveys, & Visual Culture in Environmental Research

In this roundtable, I critically discuss survey research and media sources used for understanding public opinion. Fuller understanding of people's complicated and dynamic perspectives about environmental topics, particularly in an era of climate transformation, requires different methods that investigate beyond the individual scale. Photographic methods and visual culture studies—together with other longer-term, participatory and multi-scale methods—may aid in improving interdisciplinary environmental research.
