Workshops

Webex (link will be emailed to participants on Oct 15)
Sessions:

Long Abstract:

Research on religious and spiritual practices in Central Asia is quite plentiful. This literature usually examines religious practices from the Western and local, but predominantly secular perspective, which limits our scope of understanding. Very little is written from the insiders’ or spiritual practitioners’ points of view. This workshop brings authors of Central Asian origin, who themselves are religious practitioners and who will discuss their spiritual practices using the autoethnography as their main research method. In the workshop papers, they will explore their own spiritual paths and experiences within the respective spiritual communities.

Who should participate: Anyone interested in Central Asia and/or anthropology and sociology of religion

Maximum number of participants: 20

Languages to be used: English, Russian

Facilitators: Sofya Du Boulay and Emil Nasritdinov. Both facilitators are religious practitioners and researchers of religion.

=========
