The Africa Centre for Transregional Research (ACT) of the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg hosted the conference of the Association for African Studies in Germany e.V. (VAD) from 07 to 10 June 2022 in Freiburg im Breisgau. The Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg acted as host in her own name and for her own account.
ACT also used a portion of the registration income to offset 121 tonnes of carbon emissions to reduce the footprint of the event.

Our dear colleague Richard Ugochukwu Anyah, PhD candidate within the Africa Multiple Cluster, University of Bayreuth, unexpectedly passed away in the conferernce week due to ill health at 30 years of age. Richard Ugochukwu Anyah was meant to present initial findings from his research project in the area of Liberian heritage studies to an audience at the VAD 2022. His inquisitive, kind, humorous character is duly missed.
