Contribution short abstract:

The Sami people rely on reindeer to maintain their traditional life. How has climate and policy changes affected the Sami's ability to cultivate reindeer? How can we understand Sámi perspectives of green colonialism?

Contribution long abstract:

The construction of wind farms on Sámi lands in Norway has ignited a complex and multifaceted struggle for Indigenous rights and environmental justice. Aili Keskitalo, President of the Sámi Parliament, has framed these developments as "green colonialism," a term that encapsulates the paradoxical nature of projects purportedly aimed at environmental sustainability yet inflicting significant harm on Indigenous communities. This research delves into the implications of green colonialism for the Sámi people, examining the loss of agency, cultural erosion, and psychological distress experienced by those directly affected.
