Colonialism in Indian Ocean Islands: Identity Formation & Power Structures on Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles & Comoros with historical study. Racial dynamics, language policies & economic exploitation intersect with identity formation, contributing to discussion of 'Africanness' in the region.

Paper long abstract:

Colonialism, a socio-political system rooted in domination and exploitation, has left a mark on human history, reshaping continents, cultures, and destinies with its far-reaching power and control. it has influenced Indian ocean island nations in identity formation and power structures which even persists now. this is a historical study on Indian ocean island nations particularly, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles and Comoros, examining the colonial impact on the formation of identity and power structures.

the study is carried out by historical analysis of scholarly materials and historical documents which explores the interplay between colonial powers, indigenous cultures, and political dynamics in the Indian ocean island region. it will analyze the racial and ethnic elements, language policies, colonial governance model, economic exploitation, social hierarchies to find their intersection with the identity formation in the region.

by doing so, this study will give a clear understanding of the colonial influences on identity, cultural practices, and power structures in Indian ocean island region contributing to discussion of 'Africanness', it's characteristics and interactions in the region.
