E-Resource Availability and Utilization in Nigerian Federal Universities: Identifying Gaps and Opportunities for enhancement.

Paper long abstract:

The study evaluated the Availability and students' utilization of Electronic Resources (EIRs) in federal University Libraries in the North Central Nigeria. Three primary objectives and corresponding research questions guided the investigation. The data collection was analyzed with the aid of the statistical package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Findings revealed that while a significant number of EIRs were available, while others were not. The primary purpose of use of EIRs usage were identified as learning and research. However, the study showed a generally a low extent of student utilization and a low extent to which EIRs meet the purposes of their utilization. The study concluded that although some EIRs were available, their utilization by students was inadequate. This highlights the need for universities to address the gap between availability and urination of ElRS to enhance student learning and research outcomes.
