Visioning Lab is an R&D company developing products and services using emerging technology to tackle social and environmental issues.

At least that’s what I tell everyone.

But really it feels more like piloting the Star Wars fighter jet into the heart of the Death Star to blow everything up from within.

I founded Visioning Lab because I became concerned that the same demographic who created the past, were also creating the future, again. Plus ca change.

As a senior technical female, it has become my duty to intervene where few women could go. My feminist ethnographic humanities sensibility is rare in the emerging technology world.

Casting around for a ‘product’ because no-one takes you seriously as an observer or consultant, I developed Ontology Maker, an AI-enabled process for developing multilingual controlled vocabularies or glossaries to help projects and teams tackle miscommunication.

Sometimes it feels like the Emperor’s New Clothes, waiting for a little boy to call out the farce, other times it feels like a critical solution to tackle an increasingly interconnected world.

This paper will describe my journey in developing an AI solution for metaverse, energy and disaster ‘sectors’ to support collaboration between British and multinational teams.
